the daemon parallel

When my friend Roy Gill published his first novel, I loved it so much I decided, with his blessing, to create this imaginary, alternative cover designed to appeal to a 'crossover' YA/adult audience.

Imagined, alternative cover for Roy Gill's debut novel The Daemon Parallel, featuring motifs and locations from the book (twisted wool, ivy and vegetation, deer in a forest, the full moon, a spider, the Scott Monument in Edinburgh, Jenners Department Store, Edinburgh Castle, the Heave Awa' Hoose tenement building, an art deco cinema, a shop in the Old Town, St Bernard's Well, Holyrood Chapel, a paw print and a magical cloudscape). Illustration copyright Kate Madigan.
